Frequently asked questions
What is the easiest trading card game to start?
The Pokémon TCG and Disney Lorcana are often recommended for beginners because their rules are approachable and they have good starter products. The best choice, though, is whichever game your friends or local store play.
Is it cheaper to buy singles or booster packs?
If you want specific cards, buying singles is almost always cheaper and more certain than opening packs. Packs are random and are best enjoyed for the fun of opening.
What does PSA 10 mean?
PSA 10 is the Gem Mint grade from Professional Sports Authenticator: a virtually perfect card. Beckett (BGS) and CGC use similar 1 to 10 scales with their own standards.
How can I tell if a Pokémon card is fake?
Compare it side by side with a genuine card from the same set: check back colour, fonts, holo pattern, texture and thickness, and use the light test. Buy from reputable sellers with buyer protection.
What sleeves do I need for Yu-Gi-Oh! cards?
Yu-Gi-Oh! cards are smaller than Pokémon or Magic cards, about 59 by 86 mm, so they need small or Japanese-size sleeves.
Is WaveTCG affiliated with Pokémon, Wizards of the Coast or Konami?
No. WaveTCG is an independent guide. All trademarks belong to their respective owners, and we are not affiliated with any card game publisher.
